A DIVINE BOND-THE DAY OF BROTHER AND SISTER!!

RAKSHABANDHAN- The lovely bond that holds a brother-sister heart's together. Rakhi is not merely a thread but its a thread that is stronger than anything else in the world and the strength of RAKHI signifies the strong love and bond between brother and sister.

The emotional bonding between a brother and sister can be truly felt on this day.
A Brother is the true friend given by nature. we may not be related by blood but the honest hand of brother is always a great pleasure for any sister!

A Brother is the best one for any sister in holding her hand in all her joys&sorrows. The siblings relation ship is the most divine bond and greater than any other and so the rakshabandhan is treated as a festival by our Indians.

The festival is marked by the tying of a rakhi,  by the sister on the wrist of her brother. This traditional bonding from our olden days reputed many histories for Brother and sister relationship. One of the best can be from the epic Mahabharata that concerns the bondage of Krishna and Draupadi. Once Draupadi had torn a piece of silk off her Saree and tied it to krishna's index finger to stop the flow of blood. Krishna was so touched by  her action that He found himself bound to her by love. He promised to repay the debt and then spent the next 25 years doing just that.

Krishna repaid the debt of love during "Vastra-Haran" of Draupadi. Draupadi's "Vastra-Haran" was done in the assembly of King Dhritarashtra, when Yudhishthir, her husband lost her in gamble. At that time Krishna indefinitely extended her saree, so it could not be removed, to save her pride. This is how He paid his debt towards rakhi tied to Him by Draupadi.

Not only this holy example there were many lively examples that represented the true relation between brother and sister.

How many epics we concern all says that the relation is holy and could never be broken by anyone. Losing her brother was like losing a part of herself!

"Our brothers and sisters are there with us from the dawn of our personal stories to the inevitable dusk."

"Dedicated to all my lovely brothers who shared my life and made it lively and lovely!"

  1. Interpreting the act of Droupadi in Mahabharata as rakshabandhan is quite apt. Maybe it was the real origin of the celebration of rakshabandhan festival.
